        Surely the "5 Terre" are the five most famous coastal villages of Liguria. These are located on a rough and jagged stretch of coastline in the eastern Ligurian Riviera, halfway between Sestri Levante and La Spezia.
        They represent one of the major attractions of the place for their incredible charm given by the characteristics of the small Ligurian village set in a context not at all favorable, with uneven patches of land rich with Mediterranean vegetation and steep plains covered with vineyards that plunge steeply to the sea.
        The National Park of the Cinque Terre is the smallest in Italy (4,300 hectares) but the most densely populated with 5,000 inhabitants divided into 5 small villages.
        From west to east we find Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza (pictured above), Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

        Monterosso is the most open and equipped village, enjoying many amenities, the beach, a few craft shops and various wine shops. Colle San Cristoforo divides the village into two parts, Fegina and the old: the first is more touristy, with Villa Montale, where usually sojourned the well-known Nobel Prize poet; while the second retains its typicality of fishing village.

         Vernazza is considered the most beautiful of the 5 Terre. The view is breathtaking from above...and the village does not lose its charm when you run its unique main street that divides the houses into two rows, otherwise all stacked next to each other and crossed by steep stairs, the "arpaie". Medieval fortifications of the eleventh century, the castle, the round tower, the church in Romanesque-Genovese style and natural port like an amphitheater only increase the beauty of this seaside village.
